Here are some thoughts on Natlan, as of finishing act 1:

- this will mostly be negative, so let's start with the positives. First off, I'm happy to say that I have, in fact, found something I find interesting in Natlan! I am SO happy that the abyss has FINALLY been brought back into importance outside of hard-to-follow deep lore.

- while I still don't like that Natlan is hyper focused on sports, the idea that the pilgrimage is a glorified way to get ppl to go to war is amazing. That is such a good concept, even if it being in the archon quest means that it probably won't be acknowledged after act 5.

- one of my biggest complaints about Genshin has been that extremely few characters have been important, and connected to lore stuff. So of course, I also adore the abyss stuff for the sheer number of characters who have participated in the war. It's nice that their characters aren't entirely focused on their participation in the war either, as that's one of the big differences that makes Yoimiya better written than most Inazuma aq characters imo.

- I'm happy that the writers have finally remembered Traveler's purification abilities, even though it came out of nowhere after being forgotten about for literal years.

- I have likes and dislikes about Kachina's mini arc in part one, but it was handled slightly better than what I'd expect from Genshin. The main positives; we were actually shown that she cries in short bursts a lot instead of being told, Traveler wasn't automatically allowed to be involved and was told no for once, and her relationship to Mualani is great and accentuated both of their characters well.

- and now, let's start with the negatives. My main negatives of Kachina's act 1 arc; the fact that everyone saw her as weak bc she's lost a lot and not bc she's a fucking child was stupid, the teams portion being filled with brown skinned ppl being mean to her was gross, and the whole thing felt slightly rushed.

- considering that Traveler and Paimon usually act as the voice of 'reason' (as in, telling u what u should think), it's greatly concerning me that they don't seem to see the pilgrimage and a fucking child competing in it as a bad thing. Why were they as initially okay with Kachina dying as Mualani????

- I'm calling it now: the pale skinned npc's shitting on Kachina were pale bc they're Fatui, not bc the writers realized that brown skinned npc's doing that would look racist.

- I understand that the npc who almost died is probably important to the pyro archon, and we did end up with a decent intro to how the abyss acts in Natlan out of it, but I was so bored with the People of the Springs that the 5 minutes spent with the abyss didn't feel like it made up for how bored I was for the 20 minutes spent setting it up.

- absolutely everything about the People of the Springs makes no fucking sense. How the fuck are they a tourist destination AND regularly being attacked by the abyss at the same time?? It's so obvious that they just picked the first stereotype about Hawaii they could find and carelessly shaped their entire identity around it for the sake of it.

- I seriously want to care about Natlan's unique archon situation, but why should I when we haven't gotten an old archon who actually feels like an archon and isn't hopelessly clueless since Inazuma? Like I know that this isn't the same as Nahida and Furina lore wise, but writing wise, I'm not super optimistic about our third young archon in a row.

- seeing how Iansan acts... I definitely think that I'll be crossing off the "Iansan is an adult" part of the Natlan bingo. This point is kind of including the beginning of act 2 that I already did.

If anyone who has finished act 2 thinks that act 2 will change my opinions, don't bother 'politely' 'correcting' me. Not because I care about spoilers, but because I can decide for myself whether my opinion changes :)

anime con log diary whatever

the epic outfit for today:

thankfully no traffic so that was epic. i was there pretty early (10:30-ish) so it was easy to find parking. got lost in the mall for like ten minutes until me and friend found some staff members for the con, and they showed us the way. the entrance was rly out of the way lol, usually theres two point of entries, but one was out of service. u had to follow a rly specific path to get there. there were also a bunch of buddha statues near the entrance stairway?

idk what was up with that. anyways since we were early there was no queue for us to get in. very nice. also its the weekday so i heard that theres significantly less ppl here today than there'll be the next two days. also very nice.

several booths were still being set up while we walked around. we checked out the official vendors first before checking out the artist alley, which was the main reason we were there. immediately my friend finds and starts buying some hoyoverse merch. i check the booths out w her for a while and then i get myself a green tea latte. then we check out the goodsmile booth and i find these

very cool but i do not get them, bc 1.) expensive, and 2.) i do not like plastic figurines. i also stop my friend from buying a persona 5 joker figurine. she goes and buy some more hoyoverse stuff instead. then we go check out the artist alley... and then friend realizes she left her water bottle somewhere. and as per usual with the cons i go to w her, we are seperated. and then we meet up again, but not before i buy two epic items:

tho im kinda starting feeling nauseous at this point.. and have to keep myself from throwing up. thats what happens when u take supplements + drive + drink a green tea latte on a nearly empty stomach and little sleep. dont do that. so i go to the bathroom and freshen up, and eventually i feel better. i eat three slices of pizza and give the last slice to friend, and sadly have to throw away the rest of the latte or i would feel sick again. but i feel way better now that ive eaten.

we then spend the next two hours going thru the rest of the artist alley. me and my friend joked abt the possibility of finding at least 1 (one) kgpr merch. or possibly tota merch. but unsurprisingly, there was absolutely none Lol. tho i did find vesperia merch instead

literally only one booth was selling vesperia merch haha. also surprisingly there were quite a few ace attorney merchs? its surprising to me cuz the last art event i went to only had one narumitsu sticker in the entire place. but here there were several

after we finished looking thru the artist alley and had bought our fill of art (and good god did my friend buy loads of art), i checked out a second hand vendor that i saw earlier. they had loadssss of stuff, and me and friend spent a good 15 minutes digging thru this massive tub of pins and keychains in hopes of finding smth good

i was rly hoping to find something tota or kgpr in here, cuz if they were anywhere in this convention they would be here.. but sadly there was none haha. it was rly funny digging thru this thing, i kinda felt like a racoon/archeologist. oh but i did find these two pins which made me laugh

and in the end i found and bought a bunch of revue starlight merch + a cute embroidered pin

and then after that we finally left the con.. we spent a good 5 hours in there. we went to a store for me to grab some stuff for home, then played 2 rounds of taiko hehe (6 songs total). then we went to grab some food

okay watching my way through the gmmtv 2025, trailers lets gooo!

— dare you to death: this one actually looks like it could be fun! historically i'm not the biggest JoongDunk girl but they suit this sort of action genre well (seems they're escaping the uni bls between this and THK haha and I approve.) Imma keep my eye on it!! Feels like something I'd enjoy. Also side-note but i got all excited when i saw Pahn in the trailer. But is she the one who gets poisoned right off? I hope not, but I didn't notice her pop up again in the trailer after that intro sooo. anyway she was the actual highlight of My Love Mix-Up Th for me and I'd love to see more of her!

i think i just needed a way to get out some of my brainworms about genazo and some of the observations i've made about it as a movie and fandom phenomenon that's big in japan but basically not at all here. it was originally gonna be a pitch post on my Main, Professional writing blog but it came out kind of too.....silly for that. which is why the grammar and capitalization are generally proper and the tone is more formal (and has images). i wrote most of it back in august/september but have edited it so it's relatively current to right now.

it's mostly a bunch of rambling and info tidbits about genazo. cant imagine who would be interested in it, except genazo fans, but then it's also written as if to be read by ppl who don't know what genazo is. again, very confusing post. my bad. if u wanna read it go ahead, but lol (lol).

They say honesty is a virtue so I might as well start off by saying that my curiosity about this movie was not sparked by the anniversary productions being made for Shigeru Mizuki’s 100th birthday or through keeping tabs on the latest anime films coming out, but because I saw fanart and I thought the main character, Mizuki, looked hot.

After some sleuthing, I tracked down the source material and was surprised that it was from a movie, Kitaro Tanjo: GeGeGe no Nazo (which I'll shorten to GeNazo), part of the GeGeGe no Kitaro franchise.

If you don’t know of GeGeGe no Kitaro or Shigeru Mizuki, I’ll pause here to give a little bit of background info. Shigeru Mizuki was a mangaka born in 1922, who made manga at the same time alongside other influential artists like Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy) and Shotaro Ishinomori (Kamen Rider). Mizuki would ultimately become famous for GeGeGe no Kitaro (which I'll shorten to Kitaro from here on out), a manga series following a yokai boy named Kitaro and his adventures. Kitaro is on par with Asto Boy in terms of being a national icon. He’s credited with popularizing yokai stories for the modern masses, his imagery becoming what people would most associate with the classic folklore. Besides the 2023 movie, there was an anime adaptation that aired 2018 - 2020, which was also a 50th anniversary production based off of the first anime adaptation that first aired in 1968.

I had some passing, bare minimum familiarity with Kitaro, as much as anyone who’s liked anime and manga for decades would have, and I had never seen a character from it who looked like Mizuki. Clearly, the movie wasn't a straightforward adaptation, even if it was taking one of the manga chapter titles as its own (“The Birth of Kitaro,” which shows the origins of the eponymous character). Not only that, but the promotional material was fairly bloody and dour, obviously aimed at a more mature audience than the usual child demographic the franchise was geared towards, as with the 2018 Kitaro anime. The character design for Kitaro on the movie poster was very similar though, so I figured they likely shared the same continuity.

Since the anime series had been officially licensed and subtitled by Crunchyroll, I assumed the same had been done for the movie but that was not the case. It had been released in Japanese theaters back in November 2023 but as of April 2024 at the time, there was (and still is) nowhere official and legal to watch it with localized English subtitles. I had little interest in Kitaro otherwise so I shrugged and decided I would let my shallow interest taper off. It did not.

Instead it plagued me for months (my friends can testify to this). I can't exactly articulate why; The heart wants what the heart wants I suppose. So I finally caved in and found…other means of watching it. I'm not sure if I expected that to sate the brainworms already festering in my head, but basically the opposite of that happened. Now having context for what I was already seeking out on Twitter, new depths of investment were opened up. And that's when I discovered this movie was quite popular.

Now granted, this is still in relative terms. This was the year that other animated hit films such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie and The Boy and the Heron came out. Even other anime franchise films such as Case Closed: Black Iron Submarine and Spy x Family Code: White were much bigger domestic and international hits from around the same time. However, while GeNazo never reached the status of being the #1 movie in Japan for the week, it was one of the top five grossing movies for four consecutive weeks (and in the top ten for a consecutive 11 weeks), making over two billion yen (~$17 million). It was also selected to be shown at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in the Countrechamp category. A new version of the film called the “True Version” (真生版), which contains redone cuts and rerecorded dialogue (but no changes to the narrative), as well as bumps up the rating from PG-12 to R15, was released a few weeks ago.

And when you zoom in closer from a fandom subculture perspective, its popularity is undeniable. The doujinshi made for the GeNazo fandom and sold through the retailer Comic Toranoana is not only numerous, but has dominated the female-targeted section rankings for months (both “All Ages” and “Adults Only”), alongside doujinshi for much more internationally popular series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Slam Dunk. (Another way to compare this, Kitaro has a total of 2500+ listed and Delicious in Dungeon has a little over 40 items listed.) In the 2023 poll for yumejoshi (similar to the concept of “self-shipping” fandom) to pick their favorite characters for the year, the two main characters made it to the top twenty (Gegero at #15 and Mizuki at #9), even though the movie was released quite late into the year. Then in Animage’s annual Anime Grand Prix, GeNazo was voted as the top favorite anime for 2023, with Mizuki and Gegero also voted as the top favorite characters. At COMIC CITY SPARK 19, a popular Tokyo doujinshi event held last week, GeNazo is the third most popular fandom represented (above other fandoms including Haikyu!! and Honkai: Star Rail). Several months ago, a film concert event was held and it must've done more than well enough if they're holding the event again for two days in November.

So obviously, I was very much not the only one infested with brainworms! But in comparison, no one over in English-speaking anime fandom circles knows anything. On Archive of Our Own, there’s a tag for “GeGeGe no Kitaro (Anime)”* that only has under 50 works in English when accounted for the movie’s release. (In comparison, there are over 2,500 works in the tag for “ダンジョン飯 | Dungeon Meshi | Delicious in Dungeon” in English when accounted for the anime’s release. For possibly a more equivalent comparison, there are a little under 200 works in the tag for “Bang Brave Bang Braven (Anime)” a show that did receive an official English translation and was ranked second in the Anime Grand Prix.) Every time I peek into Japanese fandom, I feel like I’m stepping into a parallel universe. The gap is striking.

Anime has never been more accessible to foreigners, specifically Americans. Piracy still reigns supreme in terms of frugal personal finances, but it's less convenient and full of pitfalls, requiring some sophistication in navigating platforms and torrents. As a thirty year old with a full-time job, the low-risk convenience on its own is worth the money of subscription. It’s also easy to think in the age of streaming and simulcast—with plenty of titles getting licensed but then instantly buried under the oversaturation of Content and lackluster efforts at marketing—that we have legal access to everything, or at least everything notable. But similar to this year's cult hit Girls Band Cry (until the official English language translation available through Hoopla and, soon on November 6th, Crunchyroll as well), GeNazo fell through the license cracks. 

I shouldn't be too surprised though. While Kitaro is an iconic series with a deep cultural legacy in Japan, its popularity in the USA is much milder. In my experience, people who do know about Kitaro tend to regard it as a piece of classic manga history rather than engaging art or storytelling in its own right. As an older, episodic children’s series fundamentally focused on traditional Japanese folklore, its potential appeal to international audiences is less universal and it's less likely to be taken seriously by manga fans invested in more serialized storytelling. So it is a shame that this movie isn't licensed and officially localized. Tomohiro Harafuchi, the director of Mizuki Productions, said in an interview at the Annecy Festival that he hoped that screening GeNazo there would “inspire the international audience to discover these universes” since Kitaro is less well known outside of Japan. Especially since it stands out as fairly unique work among the other Kitaro movies, series, and other related media.

At this point, you might be wondering what GeNazo is actually about and what my pitch is for watching it besides Hot Anime Guy.

The version that's short and to the point: A nice horror mystery with some decent fujobait and anti-nationalist themes.

My actual, extremely condensed opinion: A fun 3/5 stars movie that I'm kind of ambivalent about.

“Whoa whoa whoa,” you may be wondering, “You wrote all of this about a movie you rated 3/5 on Letterboxd?” The answer is “yes” and I wish I had a better one.

ok copying this from my twitter. i got really mad at saw 3 last night and rewrote it to fix amanda's arc

sorry if the character stuff is way off base or if it's worded weirdly i just needed to fix (gestures vaguely in the direction of saw 3) all of that

ok for things I actually did like. i actually liked the dynamic between amanda and john for the most part bc it has the potential for some really powerful character moments for amanda. not that they did anything with that but there was potential!

and amanda being the one responsible for the saw 1 trap & making sure adam was actually dead was also good imo

now what fucking gets me about this godforsaken mistake of a movie is that amanda never really. grows or develops? even if she's arguably one of the main characters of a movie. her arc never gets completed

now there is a time and a place for tragic characters who have incomplete arcs but it really felt like the writer's either wanted everyone to die for shock value or couldn't figure out a way to justify her staying alive

the big thing I'd fix here is the bathroom trap flashbacks -- im assuming u guys haven't watched saw 3 so ill give a quick tldw [note most of the ppl who follow the account i posted this on aren't that big into horror so they haven't watched any of the saw movies]

tldw: in the first movie adam is left locked in the bathroom, still alive but with no way to escape. in the third theres a flashback scene where amanda comes in, checks to see if he's alive, and upon seeing he is she asphyxiates him with a plastic bag

my big issue here is that. there was a chance to have a really good, concise breaking point for amanda's character. she (at least imo) was remourseful while she was killing him and they just did nothing with that

quick sidenote tangent about amandas character; she's very much traumabonded to john/jigsaw. upon getting out she made the connection in her head that jigsaw helped her, because the trap made her go sober.

when she became an apprentice, she was likely manipulated by john into thinking she was important to him on a personal level -- some of this can even be seen in the third movie itself (john giving amanda approval by affirming that she's important to him, but almost immidiately after rescinding it when she doesn't do what he wants)

but it's clear that amanda is like. fully invested in john and sees him as a father to her, or something akin

so back on track. for the bathroom flashbacks, I really really think it would be a really good scene for her arc if she let adam live

it could give her a moment to realize that she doesn't need to do what john says and that she can fight back

not necessarily escaping entirely, but having that power dynamic in her head shift a little by her realizing her autonomy

after adam is out, she lets those feelings sit for a while. doesn't really do anything with them until the end of the movie

on the standoff between lynn and amanda i would have loved it if she just shot john and not just because i hate him

it would be a last ditch act to have her own power and to not be controlled by him anymore. she shoots him, and he dies

of course this means that lynn would die too, and jeff would probably still kill amanda but at least it would be a satisfying death, knowing that even though she's dead she didn't die wholly helpless. if that makes sense

i kind of wish growing up with ghosts and demons was normal. it's so like ... hm. so, most people are stuck at the question “do ghosts exist?” and no matter how much they argue and ponder it's all still based on trying to answer that simple yes or no question.

but when you know 100% for certain that (at least) ghosts, demons and guardians exist it unlocks SO many interesting questions afterwards.

it feels strange trying to dig deeper and deeper into these questions, desperately searching for and sometimes uncovering answers. trying to build my framework of understanding, trying to engage in spiritual/psychic practices. and not really having too many reference materials or people i can practice with within western society. or really even just people to talk to about it in earnest.

the closest thing I'd run into most of the time is some new age bullshit but i want to know the truth, ykwim? like i do have some legit The Real Deal references to go off of and cross reference with other references, and I've learned a lot both in theory and practice about it but god is it hard without someone to guide you.

ever since i was a kid it's like. i just had observation, cause and effect at my disposal in trying to process all of this. and while i learned a lot, i feel like I'm scratching the surface of something that runs incomprehensibly deep. i don't know what specific information I'm looking for exactly, I just feel like if i keep following the path I'm on, eventually there will be something that thrusts my across that line and into what I've been looking for - and i feel like at that point i would start to accumulate new True knowledge a lot faster than I've been able to in these 29 years so far and i don't know what the implications would be on my life but i find the thought fascinating. it's also been foretold by someone whose readings have always been very specific and accurate 🙇🏾‍♀️ though I'm not on this path for that reason nor is it anywhere near being a main reason.

there are only some periods of my life so far where I'm in a good place to explore this, so it's not like it's actually been 29 years of effort, but I've been coming back to it whenever life seemingly settles down enough for me to have the capacity to do so. i really look forward to the next phase of research and experimentation, but it's also the hardest/most obscure feeling phase to get into so far ૮ – ﻌ–ა i am excited though and i hope that i find a way to break past that wall.

i need to know.. i feel like, how do u grow up with stuff of this realm(s) being a very normal part of life and not walk away from it with deep curiosity? but there's only so much you can understand with a mortal body alone, and western society isn't exactly the kind of society that encourages you to interact with “the divine” (or whatever u wanna call it) yourself directly and instead directs you to listen to a priest or something.

nonetheless, my research will continue. this has been something of a lifelong passion of mine and i don't think I'll ever stop trying to go deeper with it, and i wish that people were more intellectually curious about this stuff instead of the knee jerk skepticism you usually see at first mention of anything paranormal, let alone psychic, let alone [insert everything else here].

i do get to talk about ghosts every now and then with people, but these are usually ppl who briefly lived somewhere haunted or weren't sure of what they saw. i think in my whole life so far, I've only gotten to talk about my thoughts and framework etc etc earnestly with one person - who themselves also have an extremely interesting background that adds even more to my existing framework. I remember being really excited that night to talk to it, and it is one of my beloved mutuals actually ‹: ♡⁠

it's not that i think no one is curious about my framework specifically, but this is actually deadass one of the most personal secret things i could open up to you about and i don't feel like i want to go much deeper than “oh, yeah lol ghosts exist” with the average person because i don't think their brain would really process it when they're already struggling so much with step 1 lmaooo. (which is also why I'm being very vague throughout all this)

it's like if you just found out the sky (supposedly) exists and you're trying to understand what space is through the naked eye alone. that wouldn't do, i couldn't define it clearly but there is definitely a prerequisite before i trust you (generally, not u specifically) with my actual deepest thoughts and questions on everything, or before i even start trying to explain my framework to you.

media over exaggerates everything, dw, its not that bad <33 honestly? what i do is find people who are sitting alone or i like the vibes of (funky jewelry and pride stuff tbh) and talk to them. Compliments are a great way to start convos! and esp during the first week to month of school people are rlly open to making new friends! and then there are stages of friendship basically, once you talk with em, you wave to them in hallways/passing period (speaking of which, go before school starts to figure out ur classrooms, being late is kinda akward but not too bad) and then you follow them on insta/snap and then maybe phone numbers or social or meeting up outside of school Group projects! great way to meet people! And hoenstly? ppl do not care. as someone who is lowkey terrified of being percieved, people have better things to worry about. all you really need to do is focus on your grades <33 (tho, im not sure if grades are priorities at other schools, at my school the average GPA is a 4.0+ and nearly everyone in my grade is 2-3 grades above theirs in math :pp prolly just cuz i live in a fully asian/indian community in one of the most competitive areas)

And the mental health thing? Can be true sometimes, but there is a lot of good in it :)) - Lunches with friends!!! (kinda rare for me cuz we all have clubs, which is another great way to make friends btw!) - Work periods where you just goof off! - Going off campus >>> - 'trauma' bonding over bad teachers - Study sessions in the library were you get kicked out for giggling too loud :pp - Classes with creative projects :DD (i got to learn all about psychopaths) - classes with chaotic kidss ( i helped a guy stuff his chest with squishmellows to make fake boobs and then me and 4 other kids ties my corset around him for our final project) - STALE CANDY/STICKERS TEACHERS GIVE - KAHOOTS AND JUST GAME DAYS - MOVIE DAYSS >>> - and personally going from a middle school with a graduating class of less than 100, meeting so many people who are weird, and have interesting hobbies/fandoms! i saw ppl wearing fandom merch and would freak out, cuz OMG THATS SO COOL. and people have such unique and weird senses of style im obsessed with <33 and i also met other queer people?? which was SO cool <33 public school is a bit disgusting and unsanitary and mildly concerning BUTTT its chaotic, funny and leads to tons of cool stories/friends and uhhhh i think thats it?? the only thing which i personally dont like is that highschoolers are so over everything that they put in so little effort, which like is totally fine but makes you weird if you're too passionate or 'try too hard' which is prolly just a me problem as i get easily excited and kinda.... go overboard as you can see AND MAIN TIP! find your people, stay away from ppl who others say do drugs/smoke or are in gangs (unfortunatly, this isnt a disney channel show where ppl's looks dont allign with their actions, and i learned that the semi-hard way?? idk i made cool friends, just cant hang out with em if i want a future :pp ) and once you make some friends, you're set uhhhh, i kinda rambled here- feel free to send me an ask or dm if u have more questions!! :DD '

man by the nature of the circles i follow i generally don't see a lot of takes from izzy stans, but both the notes of the post you reblogged and the original twitter thread just make them look like their izzy brainworms have destroyed their reading comprehension and situational awareness. 'hehe there's two ways u could take that' clearly only one was intended. 'ur so right izzy is fucking blackbeard and he can build a pillowfort' YOU'RE SO EMBARRASSING. the show's creator is annoyed enough to actually voice some push back against the racist idea that history's greatest tactician needs this wet purse dog of a man to do basic tasks. these people really said 'i'm gonna ignore the actual issue being pointed out here and make this about my blorbo and my ship instead' and i don't know how anyone like this is gonna get through season two when they find out izzy isn't the main character they think he is.

SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT

Ray: his main flaw is his willingness to trust others that are close to him. That doesn’t really sound like a flaw, but in Seth’s route, even though he knew that there was a spy, he still refused to believe that his one of his friends could’ve betrayed him. That’s super nice of him as a friend, but I feel like Jonah wouldn’t consider it as a good trait for a King.

Sirius: he has the physical inability to express his feelings properly. Like, in his own route, he barely ever said “I love you” to MC, and I feel like he’s trying really hard to fit into the “mature and stoic guy” category. Jonah kinda struggles with the same things (can’t talk about feelings + tries to be cool), but I don’t think he’d appreciate them in someone else. 

Luka: he’s unwilling to change his own perceptions. For example, in his own route, one of the big things he struggle with is feeling unimportant because ppl don’t need him. That’s not actually true, bc he’s the Jack of Spades now and an entire territory is depending on him, but he’s so stuck in his own idea of himself that he can’t even see it in another way until MC comes along. He also applies this to Jonah, and strongly believes that Jonah abandoned him when Jonah was training to become Queen. I don’t know if Jonah will understand why Luka acts likes this, but he’s always going to be sad when his beloved little brother detests him.

Fenrir: he’s way too obsessed with fights. Look, I know that his description is “a battle-crazy gun maniac” and he uses magically modified guns and he doesn’t mean any harm by liking to fight bc he’s a super active guy, it’s still kinda unsettling (also bc I can’t actually think of any other character flaws bc Fenrir is a good boi). Jonah would definitely find this behavior untasteful, especially since Fenrir also comes from a good family.

Seth: probably how manipulative he is. In his own route, his mission is to “seduce” MC into joining the Magic Tower (remind you of anyone else???), and he succeeds in making MC fall in love, like, 10 parts in. He also fell in love with MC along the way, but he lured her with his body XDD. Jonah probably disapproves of some of his methods, but he can’t complain too much because he kinda did the same thing.

Lancelot: he’s too self-sacrificing for his own good. I mean, when Amon became a threat, instead of telling everyone else about it, he chooses to shoulder the burden himself. I can understand that he’s trying to spare those that he cares about, but he should know that the others aren’t exactly weak and fragile. Jonah would be super frustrated by this (like in part 23 of his own route), and he’ll try to help his King in whatever way he can.

Edgar: his shadiness oof. Like, at first you think that he can be trusted, and then you think that he can’t, but in the end you find out you actually can. He’s like an inverted oreo: white on the outside, black on the inside, but actually still white deep down inside. Being the honest person he is, Jonah probably struggled with Edgar’s personality at first. But they’ve known each other since they were children so Jonah probably got used to it over time.

Zero: you know what? After mulling over this for ages, I can’t actually think of any of Zero’s flaws. He’s literally the goodest boi in Ikerev.  

Kyle: his insensitivity to others’ emotions. He cannot read the atmosphere most times and he’s also one of the most emotionally clumsy people in the game (afsdfdf he’s adorable). However, Jonah is the type of person who needs to be handled with care, since he’s not the most emotionally able person ever. It would’ve definitely rubbed Jonah the wrong way at first, but just like how it was with Edgar, Jonah probably got used to it over time.

Harr: his unfrienliness probably. He’s literally the nicest person once you get to know him, but the emphasis is on once you get to know him. Unfortunately, not a lot of people have that privilege, and this is even before he became the infamous Joker. He’s just naturally introverted and aloof. Actually, pre-Joker!Harr reminded me of Jonah, because they’re equally tsundere and bad with expressing their feelings. Apparently Harr and Jonah didn’t get along great tho, so maybe Jonah doesn’t like to see his own personality reflected in others.

Loki: he’s a bit too clingy and has a tiny bit of yandere-ish tendencies (though I wouldn’t consider him as a yandere). Jonah would understand the clinginess to those he cares about (he’s the cling of hearts for a reason guys), and he could probably understand Loki’s desire to hold on tightly to people that are important to him.

Blanc: he’s a jerk because he’s only giving us glimpses of his backstory without any clarification and it makes me want to tear my hair out. Jonah is gonna march up to Cybird HQ and demand a route for Blanc.

Oliver: in Ikerev TW, one of his descriptions was “毒舌” and it literally means “poisonous tongue,” which describes Oliver pretty well. I get that some people are pretty attracted by his quick wit, but generally speaking, insulting someone every other sentence isn’t exactly a good habit to have. But like, just imagine Oliver and Jonah getting into an argument. Idek who’s gonna win.

NOTE: I don't really know that much about the next three suitors (Mousse, Dean, and Dalim), so I'll have to make my best guess about their flaws. If their route comes out (goodness knows when that'll be), I'll come back and see if I've got anything wrong!

Mousse: definitely his sleepiness and tendency to fall asleep in places other than his bedroom. I totally understand the desire to sleep all day every day, but I can see why it’d be super annoying. At any rate, Jonah certainly seems to think so, since he abhors laziness and Mousse is pretty much the epitome of laziness (unless it comes down to the things that he like, and then he turns super energetic).

Dean: his cruel and unusual ways of punishment that’s referenced many times throughout the series??? I don’t know much about him tbh (sorry to all the Dean stans!!!). Jonah has never complained about it (or even mentioned Dean at all), but he must’ve been Jonah’s teacher during some point in the Ikerev universe, especially considering that Jonah and Harr were in the same grade and Dean makes an appearance in Harr’s Class Companions event route.

Dalim: probably that he’s overly-dedicated to those he’s loyal to. Dalim knows that Amon is not a good person and what he’s doing is very wrong, but he still does Amon’s bidding because he is a firm believer in Amon supremacy. However, he has tried to save Cradle on multiple occasions, so I guess that makes up for it. In fact, I think that Jonah would actually appreciate this flaw, because he’s just as dedicated to Lancelot as Dalim is to Amon, and they both tried to intervene when they believed that their King/Lord was up to something bad.

You could also say that one of Dean's more obvious flaws is that he's very blunt. While he's a smooth talker when it's convenient for him, more often than not he doesn't sugar coat his words when he's pointing out other people's flaws.He says it like it is. This might lead to Jonah being offended on more than one occasion. On the other hand, i don't think Jonah likes Dalim's debauchery. He might think that he fools around too much. He might've chastised him at some point, but gave up when he saw that he wasn't listening. Dalim is hard to tame. There were a few times when he didn't listen to Amon's orders and he also did that thing at the end of Ray's ttlg route which proved that he's not as loyal to his lord as he seems.

“Nice one!” Hange says approaching you. You land on the floor and smile to them. They look to the tall tree you just escalated in a very short time. 

“I wanted to try a trick that Rico taught me.” you say. Hange nods, excited.

“The one with the little tumble to turn faster and begin the descent with propulsion?” you nod.

“Yes! It’s pretty useful.” you say. You’ve been friends with Hange for a while now, but you spend most of the time with the cadets of your promotion, specially with Eren.

You have just joined the corps this promotion, training with Eren, that’s what made you two so close. You’re also friend of Mikasa and Armin. 

“Hange.” Levi calls them. He’s walking towards you two, loosening his shirt collar with a bony hand. “Erwin is calling us.” He looks at you, as if he had just noticed in your presence. He knows you, he recognizes your face though you two never talked. You made the salute to Levi, after all, he’s your superior. He nods quietly. 

He of course knows you. You’re that one that uses the ODMS as if you were executing a ice skating routine, so graceful and pretty. Hange waves a hand towards you. Levi walks fast in front of them. 

“You’re too obvious.” they say. Levi grumps.

“Shut up.”

Erwin called them to let them know there’s a mission the next day. One of the squads that went for a recognition a week ago has not arrived yet, and they want to search them. And to know if all of them are alive. Hange says they can call their squad, where you are listed. Levi nods, knowing he has to call his new Special OPs Squad. You talk to Eren to ask him if his squad also goes on the mission when Hange tells you you have to be prepared to fight tomorrow. Eren nods.

“Yes. Captain Levi told us earlier. So, I guess we have to go for that...” he says. You nod and say bye to him after you two end having dinner. You enter your bed and prepare yourself for sleeping, trying to recover energy for tomorrow’s mission. 

It is too early in the morning to be talking about titans, but Erwin is giving his discourse before you all leave. You listen to him, trying to avoid unintentional yawns. Once he has assigned every squad to each part of the army, you start to walk. Casually, Eren’s squad is next to yours, on your left. He smiles at you. Behind him, Levi Ackerman looks as awesome as usual, up in his black horse. 

The way is silent in your group and kinda uncomfortable. Some soldiers are crying and some others are screaming that they want to go back home. You try to not listen to them. You also want to go home.

No, you don’t. You’re here because you want to help humanity. If stay away from home and risk your life will help your family to live in better conditions, with no more fear, you’ll risk it every day.

A red light is seen, and you know what that means.

“Titans!” Hange says. “I wonder what amazing ones will we find today...” Once you’re near enough to them, you take your blades and swing between the trees. 

Levi saw you do that hundreds of times, but seeing your body elevate quietly, all the grace in every movement, from your side is another story. His grey eyes follow you, as if the battlefield was now a stage and this was a kinda strange ballet, in which you were the main dancer, and he only one of the public. 

He looks around, blushed. He has to center himself in the battle. Giving a couple orders to his squad, he easily finds an enormous titan. He goes all way up a tree, searching its weak point. You do the same a couple trees to his left, fighting. There’s a weird titan between the two of you, and Levi cannot predice its movements. He seems to be interested in you, but at the same time, he looks at Levi, as if he was about to attack him.

Unfortunately, you were it’s prey.

The titan runs towards you, his mouth open and his hands ready to catch you. You didn’t see him coming, you were too centered on the one you were attacking. The titan caught you off guard, taking one of the strings of your ODMS, making you scream. Levi hears that.

“Y/N!” He goes as fast as he cans near the titan, seeing your blades moving fast towards the enormous hand that was about to cage you. He kills the titan you were trying to kill, the one that had his mouth ready to eat you from his colleague’s hands. Then, he turns over himself, attacking the other one’s neck, the one that is squeezing your body so hard that you’re even screaming of pain. He never saw you screaming of pain. Never.

That’s when he realized how you’re suffering. You feel how the hand around you loses all strength and you fall. You fall because your body feels weakened. Levi catches your body in its way to the floor. You feel his warm body surrounding yours, his calm breath and his voice it’s the last thing your senses catch before you pass out.

The first thing you feel when you wake up is a fluffy bed under you, followed by a softly touch on your leg. You open your eyes quietly, trying to adapt to the light of the room. Levi is there. You blush.

“Captain Levi?” you ask in a whisper. He looks at you.

“Y/N, you’re awake.” he says. He offers you a glass of water. You thank him and drink slowly. 

”What happened?” you ask. You don’t remember exactly how you ended there, but you were surprised to find Levi by your side.

“You got squeezed by a titan three days ago.” he says, looking at the marks in your legs. “I came here with you as fast as I could and took care of you.” he says. His hand feels soft and hot against your skin. 

“You? You took care of me?” You ask. He nods.

“For all the days you’ve been here, in this bed, with your eyes closed.” he says, his voice going down and his gaze showing what he feels: tiredness.

“Have you been sleeping here, Captain.?” you ask. He nods.

“In this chair.” adds. You take air heavily, but it makes your ribs hurt. He looks at you concerned.

“I’m ok, I’m ok.” you say. “But you should get some sleep.”

“No.” he says.

“Why?” your tone is concerned now. He looks at your bed, but never at your eyes.

“You need someone to take care of you.” He simply answers. His hands play with your leg quietly, making sweet caresses on too of the wounds. You look at his hands dancing on your skin. It feels really good... Levi has been taking care of you for days. He saved you and then took care of you. You thought that the one that will be Levi's partner will be so lucky...

“Can I ask you why did you save me?” you ask, out of nowhere. His hands stop its caresses and he looks at you. His grey eyes are fixated on yours, making a quick scan all pver your face. Your plump lips that he dreamed to kiss for a long time, your cute nose, your blushed cheeks and your beautiful eyes.

“Cause I like you, and i was hoping you could be my girl, y/n” he says.

Wow. You weren't expecting that. He said it so directly, as if it was the simplest thing to say. As if it was easy as breathing. You looked at him, but he was serious.

"Be your girl?" you ask. Levi nods.

"I've been watching you. How strong, beautiful and powerful you are. All those things make my mind a mess, full of you. Your voice. Your body. Everything about you is invasive in my head." he says.

You were totally speechless, analyzing every movement he makes. How his adam's apple goes up and down nervously, how he plays with his hands. You find it kinda cute, how a captain of the Survey Corps is nervous to tell the girl he likes his feelings. After all, Levi took care of you. You felt an attachment, a bond that pulled you closer to him as magnets. You smiled.

"We'll give it a try." you say. He looks at you again, blushed. You smile. His hand searches yours quietly, and you let his fingers tangle with yours. He smiles.

"Y/N, I prom..."

"HOW'S MY FAVORITE GIRL EVER DOING?" Hange asks, entering the room. They didn't pay attention to your tangles hands. A shy Eren and a concerned Historia are behind them. "Oh, you look less like a zombie." they says. "I'm sure that Captain Levi has been taking care of you really well, if you know what I mean." they winks. Levi clicks his tongue, but he keeps your hand caged in his. That makes your stomach be full of butterflies.

"I saw you were in danger, who helped you?" since Historia wasn't called to that mission, she didn't knew what happened. Rumors are fast but, the 99% of the times, false.

"Yeah. Fortunately..." you look at Levi. How his eyes shined when he told you he wanted you to be his girl. "... fortunately my man was there for me." you smile and Levi almost choke on his saliva, but his acting skills were really worked. Historia smiled and Eren blushed.

"Oh Goddess, you two are now a couple?" she asks. You nod, smiling, and Levi blushes after being caught looking at you.

"Why did the little brat blush?" Levi asks. Eren coughs.

"It's just that is weird... My bestie and my Captain..." he says. You blush as well.

"It isn't!" Historia goes on your defense. "It's really beautiful. How the two of them..."

"... are wishing to be alone and we're here. Guys, head to the dorms, our girl is being treated." Hange says. Levi raises a brow and you let out a little laugh.

"Your jokes are pitiful." he says. They close the door behind them and Levi sighs. You smile at him.

I just read chapter 265 and omg😭😭i completely agree that ken is not doing mikey’s character the best rn. Like I literally love mikey to death and ik people are gonna make him out to be the true villain now🥲Like I just saw a tweet that said mikey is the reason that baji is dead now and i just don’t agree at all, I genuinely don’t think that mikey knew what exactly he was agreeing to when talking to kisaki like baji was literally one of his best friends and he wouldn’t have wanted him to die like that🥲but he did kill kazutora in past timelines, so he wasn’t in the best headspace at that time BUT he also wasn’t friends or knew takemichi in the previous timelines either so hopefully the next chapter is his admiration for takemichi and how he wants to do better/ some kind of redemption for his past timelines🥲sorry if this was confusing, i’m not the best at writing out my thoughts like this 😭

no but i think what upset me a lot about this chapter is that we’ve always seen mikey’s dark impulse as a part of him that serves as his one obstacle from building toman to what he wants and what is was meant to be. almost every single timeline consists of mikey’s dark impulse and kisaki’s manipulation being the reason why his gang turns corrupt u know ?? it’s the part of him that makes him need “saving” in the first place because besides that, he’s an otherwise good kid who wants to protect his friends and more or less follow his brothers footsteps and create a place for delinquents. mikey’s always shown a compassionate side underneath every thing he does that’s one of the main reasons why so many ppl want him to be saved and have a happy ending—he’s a genuinely good guy despite his past and his struggles. but this new chapter waters him down to someone who just only cares about strength and building toman by any means necessary. and maybe this is only to show his growth later on, but idk it upsets me to think that he’d have that mindset in the first place because i don’t like to think using darkness as a means of growth was ever a part of mikey’s character bc the main reason he looked up to his brother was bc of how he lead delinquents and created an age for them. the first time he met takemichi he said delinquents clean up their own messes and he “doesn’t see what’s so wrong with that.” like he doesn’t see toman as a way to rise to the top to have power over ppl, it’s literally his way of protecting his friends and creating a place for delinquents to have a family where they’re strong to stay that way AND THIS BASICALLY ERASES THAT and implies his drive for toman had other motives AND IT UPSETS ME A LOT

Past / Background

Carla's past story or BG story is probably be the main reason I like him the most. He had a very TRAGIC past and I really cry each time I see him having a mixing emotion regarding his father Gishbach's torture on him. He really tried his best for being acknowledged and praised by his father...Altho his mother was always there to support him. and it kinda also reminds of my own life situation and goals And also shin's view point regarding Carla in past...but the truth Carla really cares about shin as a perfect brother. I like the bond between Carla and Shin as brothers way more than Mukamis. And also the time when he killed his father was also sad for me. In short, Carla's BG story was most interesting one for me.

Talent /Skills /Strengths

Carla is born-talented with powers as it was told by Krone, which is very powerful compared to his father or other First-blood races. In a training with his father, Carla really mastered a strong magic power(?) which his aged races couldn't do and Gishbach was highly jealous and astonished about that and knocks him out senseless following on. He is also very good in sword, and basically in all the things that ought to be required for a king. He also loves to read books which is absolutely amazing I guess. He is also very artistic person, ae he likes landscapes paintings. He also has a very sharp nerve as it was told my Yui in CL. He is also great in English (grammar) shown in DF. Like yo,,,there are 100s+ and I will get tired if i type everything lmao!

He is also exceptionally good in chess, probably be more or equivalent to Reiji. In Reiji's route, I could clearly say how cold-headed and planned tactics Carla made to beat down Reiji. He said - "99% of the chess is strategy" and it has become my most fav quote ever lol. Altho it's very basic thing to know for a chess-player/lover like me. And then Reiji mentioned after that there's something where he and Carla are very alike...(Which is they both wanted to be acknowledged and praised.) Bringing Reiji here cuz he is my #2 bias forever

His Kindness

For the DL fans who haven't played his route yet might haven't notice that much but, Carla is a very kind person. In LP, I really liked those moment when he saved Yui even though knowing he is gotta get effected by the poison twice in Zatan's mouth. Also when Carla told Aji not to kill the snake which seizing the antidote outta that,,,,although it was the biggest bother in that route lmao. In LE, also when he didn't punish or yell at a ghoul child for injuring him etc etc. Even tho he finds sometimes difficult to understand ppl,,,but he is very kind inside at the same time.

His appearance

Okay—I fall in love with his dress and everything hjsksks. I personally see his style very unique, meanwhile goes well with his kind of person who said "I don't dresses which exposes skin too much like a shameless." Every single outfits, especially dark fate and lost eden. Also like the way he manages his hair and scarf. Idk how to specify lol, I really like every single thing. His hair, eyes, body and EVERYTHING AAAa-

His Voice

I always find deep and dark voice very calming, and carla's voice is such a soothing version of it. I am a big fan of Toshiyuki and most of the otoge characters that I stan is voiced by him uvu. Ik some ppl think Carla's voice sounds like he is around 60+,,,but I never thought of him like that and will I be ever. His voice suits pretty decent with his sharp gaze and cold atmosphere. I luv him voice, so much like literally music in my ears.

His love towards Yui

Although his main attraction towards Yui/MC was developed in Maniac epilogue,,,pretty late but it worth it very much. I was like really surprised that how lovely and affectionate he could be...wow. The hands that was more likely to choke her was now the only place Yui could belong. Also he was jealous when he saw Reiji taught him that English thing on that notebook before. Despite being sadistic, he has a soft heart inside and—always cares about Yui and protects her. He can also catch Yui's mood or thoughts easily by observing her expressions and face.

I am tired-this is just the top reasons that popped out in my mind lol. I can write a newspaper tbh,,how much i love him and my reason for that. Not only romantically but...i really do learn many things from and it is the most inspiration in achieving my goals and especially study purposes sjsksjk

u know i really haven't written any crossovers? it's normally not my thing cause my brain typically focuses on a single thing and doesn't really have the capacity to think about more than that, so i end up writing just au-style or fusion-style (shoutout to that one bnha but it was scooby doo fic i wrote - x)

aha yes, i have. the only straight up hate i've received was on a kaeluc fic (surprisingly not because it was kaeluc, but bc i was 'mistreating' kaeya in the fic) - to be entirely fair, the commenter pointed out something that i hadn't realized myself, and it led to a second piece of the story that helped me tie up some loose ends, but...let's just say they weren't very kind about their feelings lmao

other than that, i had someone very upset because i didn't tag which character was bottoming in a fic (valid if that bugs u!) and they read through most of it before getting to the smut (and said that they enjoyed everything up to that point) then said they were 'disgusted' by it. i have opinions on that and a few other comments they made, but i will keep them to myself lmao

and beyond that, just a few ppl on my xiaoven fic saying that they were unhappy about the background kaeluc (which is tagged lmao) - really no hate whatsoever til genshin, honestly, which is...very hmmmm :) lmao

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

well first and foremost, with only 2 exceptions, i never post a fic unless it's done. i tend to follow wherever my passion leads my brain, so i'm notorious for jumping around between stories and taking breaks from long fic and returning later on to finish them, and i know that i would not do well under the pressure of posting something unfinished and trying to finish it in a timely manner

that said, many wips sit in my google doc folder, but one is Well Known as the one that has followed me through both the phandom and bnha (rose keeps asking who i'm gonna switch the chars to in genshin, but i think it suits bakudeku too well to do that) - only the lonely survive. it sits at like 36k in my wip folder, and i adore the story dearly and i want very much to finish it, but it never makes it quite to the forefront of my motivation, and so it rarely if ever gets worked on...i hate the idea of 'never' finishing it, but it's unfortunately quite likely that i won't 😭😭😭

What are your writing strengths?

emotion!!! and immersion!!! it's my goal in a fic to make it as immersive as possible and saturated with emotion to help convey that feeling of being in the place of the pov character, and i think i do it pretty well. also just bc i feel a little obligated to say it - another strength is actually sitting down and putting words down. i know that's a struggle for a lot of writers and i often get,,,,lovingly bullied? i guess? lmao for being able to bash out a few k in a day most days

What are your writing weaknesses?

this isn't so much a weakness i guess but i am basically incapable of treating crack fic as crack. if i have a cracky idea, it will, without a doubt, end up turning into a Perfectly Serious fic somehow (notable 'crack treated so seriously that it's no longer crack' fics include: todoroki doing the freeze-the-ocean thing from frozen 2, 'shmigaraki', todo and denki get together bc of vine references, the league sells feet pics, shiggy and natsu own a nightclub/bakery, scooby doo but make it bnha, and dabi getting his ears pierced at claire's)

but in all seriousness, i think my main weakness is that i often get comfortable? and i'm not one to typically push myself forcefully out of my comfort zone when it comes to stories that i come up with on my own, which often means that ideas inspired by discussions with others are what prompt me to branch out and try new things?

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i think, like anything, it has its place? there are certainly stories where it makes sense to do that and even adds depth to a story, although i personally am not exceptionally comfortable enough with other languages (except maybe asl) to do that in fic myself without the assistance of someone very comfortable with that language lmao

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

the phandom! not really my jam to write rpf anymore but it definitely got me started and i'm really grateful for my time writing there, as everyone was super supportive and kind, and it was really a perfect place for a beginner to get comfortable and practice

again, forcing me to choose between my children...i really don't know that i can pick one fic bc they all exist in such wildly different spaces? i poured my worldbuilding soul into the king of disaster series (mainly dabihawks - x), exile (dan and phil - x) was my first massively long fic, our hearts are heavy burdens we shouldn't have to bear alone (chayea - x) is probably my favorite character/character dynamic study, i'm exceptionally proud of the smut in chosen (zhongchi - x), the list goes on and on and on lmao like. i could probably list half my fics as favorites in some regard dsflkjdfsjkl
